Celebration of the 38th anniversary of the U.S. Army Air Forces, dating back to establishment of the Aeronautical Section of the U.S. Army Signal Corps, in 1907. Airmen of the Army Air Forces march in formation on the flight line at Wright Field in Dayton,Ohio. Aviation pioneer, Orville Wright, is seen in the reviewing stand. A color guard marches past the the reviewing stand. A 4-engine German Junkers JU-290 transport aircraft is seen parked on the field. (It arrived on July 31, 1945, after being flown to Wright Field from Europe, by U.S. Air Forces Colonel Harold E. Watson and co-pilot Captain Fred McIntosh,who were delivering it to Air Technical Intelligence Headquarters.) The crew of the JU-290 (named "Alles Kaputt") pose in front of it. Colonel Watson, is seen holding a Dachshund dog. The JU-290 takes off on a demonstration flight. A new U.S. P-80 "Shooting Star" jet airplane (serial number 44-84995) is rolled out for all to see. It takes off in a demonstration flight.
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania after the Pittsburgh flood of 1936 (March 17-18, 1936). Workers cleaning up debris at 610 Stanwix Street in front of the Joseph Horne Co. department store building. Men tossing debris on a truck and shoveling debris out of the street. A large flood water pump emptying water onto the street. Policeman with a ruler pointing to a plaque mounted to the store's corner at Stanwix Street and Penn Ave. that reads “HIGH WATER, MARCH 15TH 1907”. The police officer then points to new high-water mark on the pillar which is much higher.
People strolling through a park. Some sit on benches. Three women walk along a path in a park. They are fashionably attired in Edwardian style. A girl seated on a park bench looks at them as they walk past. A structure extends above the path, in the background. It contains two uprights and a straight roof. One upright is topped by a fleur de lis. A large bed of flowers lines the path. In another event, a large crowd runs across an open field to watch something or someone, coming along a road at the left of the scene.
'Mexico and Spain', part 1 of the film titled 'Fights of Nations', depicts a Mexican man who comes on stage with a large knife. He hides behind a wall. An actor cast as a Spaniard, comes on stage with a woman. The Mexican man comes out from behind the wall and attacks the Spaniard. The woman intervenes. They struggle and the Spaniard gets the knife. They struggle and the Spaniard threatens to kill the Mexican. But the woman intervenes again and pleads for his life. The Spaniard relents. The Mexican man leaves. The Spaniard and the woman resume their assignation. The man kisses the woman.
'Our Hebrew friends' , part 2 of the film titled 'Fights of Nations' depicts two Hebrew men arguing outside a shop in the United States. They interfere, comically, with a man walking on the sidewalk. Another man comes and they involve him in their argument. A policeman comes threatens to arrest each of the three men, in turn. The third man, a Hebrew, pleads with the policeman, and secretly slips him some money. The policeman walks away, happily. The three men hug each other and dance.
'Hoot Mon! A Scottish Combat', part 3 of the film titled 'Fights of Nations', depicts two actors dressed as Scots, in kilts, one lying dead or wounded. A third Scot arrives and seeing his companion on the ground, challenges his assailant to duel with swords and shields. He prevails over the slayer of his companion.
