Musicologist John Lomax, plays recording of music by Lead Belly (Huddie William Ledbetter), an American folk and blues musician. John Lomax holds one of the aluminum disc recording of Lead Belly's music that he and his son, Allan, recorded for the Library of Congress. Admiral Richard Byrd briefs Admiral Nimitz (now Chief of Naval Operations) about the 1947 expedition to Antarctica. Admiral Nimitz receiving an honorary degree from Columbia University, in New York.
