During the Battle of the Leyte Gulf, a Japanese A6M5 Zero aircraft carries out one of the first kamikaze attacks of World War II, diving and attacking the U.S. Navy Escort Carrier USS Suwanee (CVE-27) in the Leyte Gulf of the Philippines.
