The Grotto of Tiberius (Museo Archeologico Nazionale e Villa di Tiberio Via Flacca, km 16.300 04029 Sperlonga) is discovered to be a treasure trove of sculpture and statuary from the time of the Roman Emperor Tiberius. Archaeologists examine pieces of large Roman statues found in the grotto. In Bosra, Syria, a 15,000 seated stadium (Roman Theatre at Bosra, GF9J+3HC, Busr as Sam, Syria) dating back to 106 A.D. is brought into recognition.

America's first woman aviator Amelia Earhart poses near her Lockhead-Vega airplane after her record breaking flight to Culmore, London from Derry, Ireland. It took her 15 hours and 40 minutes to span the Atlantic. Earhart enters her plane and takes off.
