A large honor guard of Italian soldiers stands on the train platform. A train pulls into the station and stops. Photographers and reporters scramble ahead of Adolf Hitler and his entourage as they exit the train and walk along the platform. Closer view of Adolf Hitler giving relaxed Nazi salute. Another view of the special Italian honor guard. Scene shifts to a number of cars carrying the visiting Germans, in a motorcade, proceeding along a street in Rome. Both sides of the roadway are filled with welcoming Italian people. View from the rear as the motorcade approaches the Quirinal Palace. Scene shifts suddenly to the interior of the palace, where Mussolini greets Hitler. Next, Mussolini is seen conversing with his son-in-law, Gian Galeazzo Ciano, who serves as Italy's Foreign Minister. Hitler then enters the room accompanied by Mussolini and Galeazzo Ciano. Various views of the Italian and German officials conversing, including an extensive discussion between Mussolini and Joachim von Ribbentrop. Opening scene shows Italian Leader, Benito Mussolini on horseback wearing a military uniform and accompanied by followers in military uniforms. They are riding into the center of a gathering of thousands of Italian youth (Boy Scouts, or Guides) wearing uniforms and bedrolls draped over their shoulders. The youth all stand by bicycles. Scene changes to a race track where a large group of the Italian youth ride bicycles on the track while others with their bicycles watch. There are many ordinary people in normal dress also watching the cyclists on the track. Next, Mussolini and his mounted military entourage are seen riding on the racetrack. Closeup of several in his entourage on a city street. Next, Mussolini and his entourage are seen riding triumphantly along the Via triumphalis, with the Arch of Constantine behind them and the Colosseum at their left rear. Spectators line the sidelines, including a group of youth holding flags. Mussolini raises his arm straight upward in salute and the youth do the same, as he rides past them. View of King Vittorio Emanuele III in a reviewing stand with Italian Generals and Admirals. Closeup of some civilian officials, including a woman standing near Field Marshal Luigi Cadorna as they listen to a speech by Mussolini. Complete change of scene shows an Australian pioneer in radio telephony and associate of David Sarnoff. He stands aboard the deck of a ship just arrived in America, next to his friend, Sarnoff, as he makes some remarks about his visit and recalls receiving the first radio telephone call in Australia, from Sarnoff in Italy. Scene shifts back, again, to Vittorio Emanuele III and others in reviewing stand, and then to Mussolini standing on a balcony giving a speech. Glimpse of Mussolini on horseback. United states 100th Infantry Battalion, 442nd Regimental Combat Team, comprising Americans of Japanese ancestry, marches in formation to be decorated by Lieutenant General Mark Clark, Commander of the 5th Army, at Vada, Italy during the Italian Campaign of World War 2. They march onto a large open field where their color guard dips the regimental colors to which General Clark affixes the unit citation. He and his officer aide then salute and move on decorate an individual soldier of the 100th battalion. General Clark pins the Distinguished Service Cross on the soldier, speaks briefly with him, and shakes hands. They exchange salutes. Closeup of the soldier wearing the Distinguished Service Cross pinned above his combat infantryman's badge. General Clark then speaks to all the soldiers, addressing them as "Americans of Japanese descent,"and praising their performance and patriotism. Views of individual soldiers.
