He is followed by his wife, Pat Nixon, Senator Mike Mansfield and Congressman Dick Shoup, as they descend from the airplane. The stairs display the Logo of the Military Airlift Command. Camera pans along the left wing of Air Force One to reveal an enthusiastic crowd of well wishers, including a high school marching band in red uniforms, playing their instruments under the baton of their conductor. Some at back of the crowd hold up a large sign reading: "Agriculture." Camera zooms in from behind as President Nixon, flanked by Mike Mansfield, the Majority Leader of the Senate, and Montana Congressman Dick Shoup, as he makes a few remarks into a microphone. Several Native American Indians wearing feathered head dress stand nearby. Sign on airport building reads: "Welcome to Flathead Valley President and Mrs. Nixon." Camera pans across the large crowd on the airfield tarmac. Air Force One is in the background. State Police and other law enforcement officers mingle at the edge of the crowd. Mike Mansfield walks alone at the edge of the crowd, near law enforcement officers. A phalanx of news reporters and photographers make their way through the crowd, following President Nixon and using. long handled microphones to capture comments and statements in extended scenes across the spectrum of onlookers. Such scenes comprise the remainder and bulk of the film.

Hungarian Lieutenant General Vitéz Kassai Farkas László accompanied by his staff, talks to an officer of the U.S. Army in Linz, Austria towards the end of World War II. An American officer orders his sergeant (interpreter) to ask the Hungarian General for his correct name and rank. The sergeant translates the officer's question into Hungarian . He answers with his name, Vitéz Kassai Farkas László, and rank: Lieutenant General. The officer asks him more questions about his men and about the Nazi Germans. The sergeant translates the questions and their responses for both men. The General smokes a cigarette. The sergeant also smokes a cigarette. The officer states that the American Army will not take the General's men prisoner, and will help them to return back to their country. The General stands on the bonnet of a jeep for a thanks giving speech. He thanks the U.S. Army for their humane treatment. His men also join him and cheer the news from their General about the Americans' statement.

A film depicts an impressionistic study of Washington DC on a typical Great Depression day. Clark Mills's Lieutenant General George Washginton equestrian statue at Washington Circle. A cemetery and men work at the cemetery. They use a machine to help lift old grave markers up out of the ground. The grave markers appear to be circa civil war era. Next, British Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain, arriving for the Munich treaty conference, steps from a British Airways Lockheed Model 14 passenger plane. Adolf Hitler climbs stairs of Berghof together with Chamberlain and Hitler's interpretor, Paul Otto Schmidt, on September 15, 1938 for their conference. A Pershing tank crosses a bridge back into South Korea, where a sign reads:"You are now crossing the 38th parallel, Co.B 728 MP." Scene shifts again, to President Lyndon B. Johnson delivers speech about Vietnam at a news conference on July 28, 1965, in which he states,among other things, "Three times in my lifetime...Americans have gone to far lands to fight for freedom..." as he explains U.S. involvement in Vietnam and the Vietnam War.
