Captain Carl Zimmerman sits at a table to talk about the American soldier fighting wars in various countries. He begins with a day in the life of a soldier in Korea during the Korean War. Soldiers wake up to the sound of artillery fire on a hill. Soldier looks through binoculars. Explosions on hills. 8 feet camouflaged bunkers on a hill. Soldiers come out of bunkers to take in some fresh air. They eat and drink. South Koreans help them unload ration and supply boxes from a jeep. They open the boxes and pass the supplies around. White and African American soldiers glad to receive postal mail from home during mail call. A Stars and Stripes newsletter. A soldier wearing his helmet with a dent in it from shrapnel that it blocked. He takes a tablet for his headache. Another one smokes a cigar.

At TC: 2:47 McMahon's Bar and Grill at Jackson Ave and St. Mary's St. is seen. Families in the park. Children eat from stalls. Men sing a hymn and play tambourines. Children bathe in the water spray from a fire hydrant. Churches and other holy places in the area. Poster displays the "all seeing eye" of a local mystic. Church signs include, "Iglesia Pentecostal Estrella de Oriente" and "Bethany Christian Mission," with a warning to "prepare to meet your god." Man paints a sign for another church. Musicians play on the street. The bleachers are full with fathers and mothers with their children in strollers. Players prepare for the game. The baseball game underway. Audience claps and cheers. A plane flies overhead.
