Smoke rising from valley below as a soldier, in an M3 Half track, points and sets up an antenna. Four 50-caliber machine guns are mounted in the back of the half track. American soldiers firing rifles from a protected area. Two soldiers with an air-cooled machine gun. Spent cartridges are scattered in the sand by their weapon. Glimpse of troops firing the four 50 caliber machine guns in the back of the M3 half track. Overwhelmed by superior numbers, the U.S. troops are ordered to pull back. View of U.S. soldiers moving back from their protected position. American troops in vehicles moving back along the dirt mountainous road. Next, U.S. forces are seen moving South over snow-covered terrain. One U.S. mortar team fires a round to their rear. A Brigadier General conferring with another officer about mounting a counterattack back up the peninsula. Third Division troops are seen heading North, again, firing tank artillery as they proceed. Smoke rises from their shells exploding ahead of them. Infantry move carefully through burning villages and into the Korean central mountain sector. Smoke rises from a large explosion as the North Koreans launch an offensive in May. American troops rushing up a hillside to engage the enemy. A U.S. Sherman tank firing rounds from valley floor. Shells from U.S. armor exploding atop a hill occupied by American troops. Afterwards, the troops advance further. One fires at an enemy bunker just to be sure it is not occupied. U.S. 3rd Infantry Division engages enemy around the Chowan Reservoir during the Korean War
Opening scene shows Major General Robert H. Soule, Commander of the Third Infantry Division, in Korea, speaking to a soldier, from a a jeep. His jeep moves past a U.S. tank. A U.S. Chaffee tank (named "Belle") drives past the camera. (Narrator notes that the enemy opened the gates of the Chowan Reservoir to flood the area, after U.S. forces secured the southern edge of the "Iron Triangle".) Two Patton tanks are seen at water's edge. Another is making way through the water. Three U.S. soldiers atop a hill. One looks through a pair of binoculars. U.S. infantry walking downhill beside a dry culvert. One examines an area of straw, that might hide enemy soldiers. He throws a grenade into it, that explodes raising smoke and noise. UN forces moving easily across roads and paths in the valley. (Narrator notes that in the meantime enemy forces infiltrated into the surrounding hills and then attacked with ferocity.) UN forces firing a 155 mm long tom howitzer to counter the enemy. Artillery barrages continuing through the night. U.S. troops firing 105mm howitzers, and a 60mm light field mortar. More views of various pieces of artillery being fired by crews of African American and white U.S. Army soldiers. Smoke rising from the surrounding hills as artillery shells explode.

October 29, 1954, General Maxwell B. Taylor, Commander of the U.S. 8th Army, in Korea, escorts a South Korean diplomat up the stairs to a reviewing stand. A color guard is seen and then a view of the Korean representative, General Taylor, and Major General Charles D.W. Canham, Commander of the Third U.S. Infantry Division, saluting as soldiers of the 3rd Division begin marching in review. Camera focuses on the seated Army band, playing for the marchers. Soldiers of the 3rd Division are seen passing behind the band, carrying their Duffel bags and other belongings on their way to board the U.S. Navy transport ship USS General M. B. Stewart (AP-140) which would take them home to the USA. The next scene shows 3rd Division soldiers leaving the the USS M.B. Stewart at New Orleans, Louisiana. A huge banner hangs on a port building welcoming the Division. American troops with massed flags stand with Audie Murphy, on a bunting covered porch to welcome the returning 3rd Division troops. An Army marching band plays as they parade across the dock. Several motorcycle policemen lead a parade or the returning troops along the streets of New Orleans. Scene shifts to Master Sergeant Queen at the filming location for the Army production, "The Big Picture." Audie Murphy is with him, and praises the Army's 3rd Infantry Division, noting that he had served as one of its soldiers.

Crowd gathered at Soldier Field, Chicago, for the 27th playing of the annual professional-amateur football game between the National Football League champions and a team of star college seniors from the previous season. Colts quarterback,Johnny Unitas,is seen completing a number of passes, including three resulting in touchdowns. However, all-star quarterback Don Meredith, of Southern Methodist University, who completed 8 of 20 passes for 156 yards, is seen throwing a pass to Prentice Gautt of Oklahoma, resulting in a 60 yard run for their only touchdown.
