U.S. Secretary of State Kissinger and counterpart, Le Duc tho, of North Vietnam, lead delegations in Paris Peace Talks

Representatives from the United States, South Vietnam and North Vietnam meet , in Paris, France, to finalize the Peace Accords ending Vietnam hostilities. Principal negotiators are U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, and North Vietnamese counterpart , Le Duc Tho. The delegates are seated at a large rectangular table, with Henry Kissinger at center of one side and Le Duc tho, at center of opposite side. Other delegates occupy seats adjacent to their respective principals. (Location: Majestic Hotel?) Photographers try to take photographs without being obtrusive. The mood of the meeting appears restrained but pleasant.

U.S. sends marines and army troops to Vietnam, and President Johnson defends the decision.

First scene shows U.S. marines descending rope net ladder from side of the USS Pickaway (APA-222) in waters off Da Nang, South Vietnam. Next, marines of 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment are seen hitting the beach at Danang, from her Higgins boats on 7 July,1965. Scene shifts to U.S. Air Force C-130 aircraft carrying U.S. army troops who are photographed as they step from the aircraft. U.S. incurs casualties and dispatches troops to South Vietnam in 1965

First scene shows a U.S. Army UH-1 helicopter flying over South Vietnam during Vietnam War. Next, American soldier is seen firing at Viet Cong who are running toward a downed helicopter. U.S. Marines search huts and a tunnel in Quang Ngai, Vietnam during Operation Rio Grande in the Vietnam War.

Opening slate identifies this footage as from "Operation Rio Grande" which ran from November 20-27, 1967. It was a Search and Destroy mission which incorporated the U.S. Marines 5th and 7th Brigades along with Republic of Vietnam marines and Army units during the Vietnam War. Patrolling marines walk across a field. Next, marines are seen crossing a crude log bridge on a road through jungles. View from rear of a marine approaching a thatched roofed dwelling, where he joins other marines. Some weapons are seen on the ground. They gather at a low entrance to the house where another marine is searching inside. He comes out carrying an automatic pistol that he hands to another marine. The marines search other houses in the small cluster of homes. Several marines gather outside the huts. One speaks on a PRC-25 radio. They begin moving away from the area. In a different area, a marine pulls a cover off a hole in the ground which conceals an entry to a tunnel. He slowly crawls into it. He passes a large roll of paper, covered with plastic, to a marine standing outside the tunnel entrance. As he emerges from the tunnel he passes an orange-colored object to the marine outside.
