Opposing forces engaged close to Madrid, during the Spanish Civil War

Next is shown a building partially destroyed by bomb shelling. Citizens of Madrid are seen working to place protective walls around important monuments and buildings in the city. Masons work on the reinforcing walls, while citizens are seen busily going about their affairs in background. Several soldiers march into a guarded fortified area.
