U.S. 29th Infantry Division crosses Ruhr River and captures Jülich, Germany during World War II
Troops of the U.S. 29th Infantry Division cross a floating footbridge erected by U.S. Army engineers across the Ruhr river at Linnich, Germany, during World War 2. Their mission is to capture the fortress town of Jülich. They hurry across the bridge under enemy fire. Major General Charles Gerhardt, Commander of the 29th Infantry, crosses the footbridge along with his troops. Troops enter the city, which has been destroyed by prior Allied bombing, and flush out remaining German snipers from basements of ruined buildings. Soldier seen firing into a basement. Remains of footbridge across the Ruhr river, destroyed by Germans during the night. Combat engineers work building a new heavy pontoon bridge across the river. A German soldier (narrator states: in an American uniform) carrying a white flag, walks towards U.S. soldiers on the opposite bank of the river, and is shot by one of them. U.S. troops cross the new heavier bridge across the river. A U.S. tank that had crossed the river, is seen. A banner is seen, fastened above a stone arch, reading: "This is Julich Germany. Sorry it is so messed up. But we were in a hurry! 29th (Blue & Grey) Div." The Division insignia appears on the banner.

The moving truck passes a team of Air Force munitions handlers off loading bombs from a flat bed truck, using a mobile crane. A crate of bombs has just been set on the ground. Next, the camera truck approaches an entrance gate of the facility, where an Air Force surveyor stands with a transit on a tripod. Several Thai persons stand in the shade of the entrance guard shack. U.S. 8th Army Air Force gun camera film showing actual aerial combat scenes during World War 2, in Europe. A Messerschmitt Bf 109 is seen being attacked from the rear. It is struck, loses control and begins to burn. Next, a German Focke Wulf 190 (FW-190) with a 300 liter drop tank still attached, is attacked. The drop tank is hit and explodes in flames. It separates from the aircraft, which rolls and dives. Another FW-190 with its landing gear extended, is attacked and explodes in flames. An Fw-190, has its wing blown off and falls out of the sky. A U.S. fighter plane strafing a German E-boat (German: Schnellboot, or fast boat). The plane strafes from the boat's port side and then circles to attack head-on as the boat attempts evasive maneuvers. An FW-190 is attacked, head-on as it is also firing at the U.S. fighter. It is struck and erupts in flame and smoke. A pair of Siebel Fh 104 Hallore transport planes are attacked, followed by an attack on a Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor transport, as it takes off from an airfield. Its left wing is set afire. Next, a U.S. fighter engages and destroys a German Dornier Do-17 bomber, in a head-on attack, as it is climbing out. That same U.S. fighter plane attacks and destroys an FW-190. In final scene, a Messerschmitt bf 109 is shot to pieces in another head-on attack.
