Film begins with camera panning in closeup of three officers and sailors of submarine crew as they are underway on the surface during World War 2. View from the submarine as it moves close to a dock (ostensibly at Midway Island). Music is being played by a band of sailors. Area in background is covered with white quonset huts. The dock is filled with sailors and a number of naval officers, and another submarine is tied up at the other side of the dock. After docking, the submarine is visited by several officers who greet the officers and crew of the boat. Navy shore patrolmen excort a blindfolded Japanese prisoner of war from the submarine to a waiting truck, as a crowd of sailors watch. Camera focuses on several navy submarine officers who are conversing. Derricks and cranes are in the background.

A Lieutenant pilot, is seen on duty as a scheduling officer with the 8th Photo Recon Squadron He stands in front of the Squadron scheduling board. He selects a pilot's tag to assign him to a mission. Scene shifts to a pilot napping in his bunk holding a map in his hands. (Reportedly, this is Lieutenant Vince Murphy.) His flight jacket hangs behind him and displays the Squadron patch with and Indian holding a tomahawk and an "eight ball." A lightning bolt strikes over the Indian's shoulder. The next scene shows pilots gathered in their lounge. One rests on a bunk with a map over his face. Others read and converse.
