Life at the front, for U.S. Army soldiers, in Korea. Rest and Rehabilitation.

The life and activities of the United States Army soldiers on the front in Korea. A soldier washes unit's clothes using a wind-driven (windmill) homemade clothes washer. Urgent dental care is provided, at the front, for troops who cannot go to the rear for it. Dentist works on soldier while African American soldier takes notes and fills out forms. American troops deplane from a C-119 aircraft on a week's Rest and Rehabilitation (R&R) from the front lines. Republic of Korea soldiers are seen as they increasingly reinforce the U.S. troops. They walk in the trench and move forward on the front. They cross a bridge on a river and carry their wounded on stretchers. Smoke arises from firing in the background. American Army soldiers, returning from R&R find nothing has changed at the front. Sandbag barricades outside their tent. U.S. soldiers walk in trenches covered with snow. Soldiers walk uphill. One of the soldiers watches enemies' action through binoculars and the other fires.

Celebration of Army Day in Manhattan, New York City, United States, in 1941, prior to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor causing the U.S. to enter World War 2.. View from high on a building overlooking 5th Avenue and Central Park, of U.S. Army units parading on Army Day. Street-level view shows color guard followed by marchers. Central Park is seen at left, and spectators line sidewalks on both sides of Fifth Avenue. The street is wet and many spectators carry umbrellas. A reviewing stand, on the Central park side of the Avenue, contains military officers and political leaders. Among those seen are: Lieutenant General Hugh A. Drum, who is flanked in the front row by New York Governor, Herbert Lehman, and New York City Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia. Next to the Mayor, A Fire Chief represents the NYFD ( the Commissioner was being replaced) and next to him is NYPD Commissioner Lewis Valentine. They are seen saluting. In the line of march members of the 44th Division Ski Patrol are seen carrying their skis. People sit with umbrellas to watch the parade. Some bleachers set up have few spectators, because of the rain. A child watches the soldiers. Troops of the U.S. 157th Field Artillery Regiment ride in trucks, pulling 37mm antitank field pieces and 105mm howitzers. More views from a high building overlooking the parade.

They decide that each British worker would visit the hometown of an American counterpart. One pair leaves to visit Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The pick up their luggage. Another pair are going to Detroit, Michigan. They pick up their luggage. The third pair is going to St. Louis, Illinois. They pick up their luggage. The final pair are going to Los Angeles, California. They pick up the last remaining pieces of luggage. One pair of workers is seen entering the Chrysler plant in Detroit. The American was welcomed home to America from his trip to England. View inside the plant of an African American woman working beside an older man, where they were making tank and marine engines. The visitors examine the gang drill presses containing multiple drills operated by a single operator. They stop to say hello to the American's daughter who also works at the plant, checking to assure parts met tolerances. It was noted that she was paid the same as any man doing the job. The pair of visitors are met at the American's home by some company union workers. They sit together on the step outside the house and get acquainted. An infant inside the house looks out the window at them. Scene shifts to Los Angeles where another English-American visiting pair is seated outdoors and the wife of the American brings out some bottles of beer for them to all share. Change of scene shows the pair visiting the offices of the Screen Actors Guild in Hollywood, where they meet celebrities Edward Arnold, George Murphy, Dick Powell, Alan Hale, Jane Wyman, Helen Hayes and Lena Horne. Edward Arnold, President of the Guild's Board, speaks with the pair, alone explaining how every actor in Hollywood belongs to the Guild which is affiliated with the America Federation of Labor (AFL).
