Film opens showing several Royal Air Force fighter pilots writing combat reports, as they sit in a Squadron operations room, during the Battle of Britain in World War 2. Closeup of one report, shows it is on a prepared Combat Report form. On the one shown, the pilot describes an engagement with German Dornier bombers on a blitz run on September 20th over Dover, at 12 thousand feet. The pilot notes the number of attacks and their intervals, at the bottom of the form. Scene shifts to closeups of other pilots completing their reports. (These pilots are probably with RAF 222 Squadron, flying Supermarine Spitfire airplanes out of RAF Station Hornchurch, in Essex, England.)
Fascist Oswald Mosley addresses rallies and riots break out in Manchester and London, England.
Oswald Mosley, head of British Union of Fascists, at a rally in Manchester, England. Hecklers object to him and his Union Movement message. Policemen try to control the situation. Many people receive injuries. A man with a bleeding head injury. A woman thrown to the ground. Oswald holds another rally on Ridley Road, Dalston, London. A large number of people protest in the street against Oswald and his movement. He speaks into a microphone but is drowned out by the protesting crowd as policemen hold people behind a human chain. When Oswald cannot be heard over the disturbance he stops the speech as riots break out. Men engage in fisticuffs. 54 men are arrested in connection with the fist fighting and photographers take pictures as Oswald leaves.
King George V and Queen Mary honor survivors of the Zeebrugge Raid during World War I.
The British Monarchs express appreciation to survivors of the Zeebrugge Raid, in which Britain attempted to deny German use of the Belgian port of Bruges-Zeebrugge during World War 1. British Naval officers, sailors, and marines, are lined up in military formation. King George V follows Lieutenant General Sir Claud William Jacob, of the Worcestershire Regiment who walks with a Navy Admiral, leading the King, followed by British Admiral of the Fleet, Sir Frederick Charles Doveton Sturdee, and military attendants. They inspect sailors at attention, with rifles at order arms. Next, the King is seen escorted by A Royal Marine officer, as he inspects a formation of Royal Marines. Speed boat record attempt kills Donald Campbell. He rides a jet boat at 320 miles an hour at Coniston Water, England, to break his own record. His hydroplane Bluebird K7 goes out of control, flips out of water, crashes and explodes.
U.S. P-47 and Four U.S. P-51s in flight over England after end of World War 2 in Europe
U.S. P-47 Thunderbolt in flight. It displays a brown and orange paint job. It banks left and descends. American P-51 aircraft in flight. P-51s fly through and skim over tops of clouds. A flight of four P-51s in close formation, viewed from another aircraft close enough for the pilots to be visible in cockpits. The flight leader's P-51D has an ace of spades playing card painted below his cockpit and two dice -- a five and a four --painted on the nose of his plane under writing that reads "Down for double." He also has symbols for 16 victories painted below the rear of his cockpit. (Reportedly, this is the aircraft of Major Gordon Graham, of the 355th Fighter Group, who retired as a Major General, after a career in the U.S. Air Force.)
