U.S. Army Colonel Keith K. Compton, commander of the 376th Bomb Group in Libya, North Africa briefs his Army Air Force aircraft crews for the first Allied bombing mission against the Nazi German ME-109 (Messerschmitt Bf 109) aircraft manufacturing plant south of Vienna at Wiener-Neustadt, Austria, in World War 2. The map that Colonel Compton is using shows the air routes to and from the target. The mission will commence early the next day, on 13 August 1943. An unrelated scene shows U.S. Army and Army Air Force men conversing with an Australian soldier in a summer uniform.

U.S. troops embark for the United States from France following their European service in World War II.
U.S. troops prepare to embark for the United States from France at the conclusion of their service in Europe during World War II, but before the end of the war, so it is regarded as a 30 day furlough. Soldiers stand in line and receive awards and recognitions for their service. The troops go through a chow line and eat food. Soldiers march and smiling U.S. Army soldiers board waiting trucks. The soldiers carry barracks bags as they board troop transport ships, embarking on the voyage back to America. Narrator notes that they will still be needed to help in the fight against the Japanese.

Naval Operating Base, Hampton Roads, Virginia (renamed U.S. Naval Station Norfolk, in 1945 ). U.S. Navy Commander seated in a chair aboard a ship. A large group of civilian businessmen and officials pose on board a ship with several American Navy officers and one British Naval officer, for a photograph. Some of them stand and some are seated. One civilian stands in front of the group and poses with an American Navy Captain. Change of scene shows Admiral Way on the Navy Base, containing mansions and other structures from the 1907 Jamestown Exposition. It is a very windy day and several civilians are seen on a sidewalk and entering a large building on Admiral Way. Numerous Navy personnel in uniform are seen in the area, including a number of Naval officers entering that building and others heading there along a sidewalk. Residential mansions are seen in the vicinity along Admiral Way.
British Admiral David Beatty welcomes U.S. ships of Division Nine to the Allied Grand Fleet, in Scotland during World War I.
U.S. Naval officers of Battleship Division Nine line up to receive British Admiral David Beatty, who comes aboard the USS New York (BB-34) to welcome the American warships to the Royal Grand Fleet, in the Firth of Forth, Scotland. Motor launches loiter at the ship's side. Contingent of World War 1 uniformed U.S. Marines marches past on the deck, and then begins double-time. Contingent of U.S. Navy sailors, in blue coats and wool caps,double-times past the officers. Admiral Beatty gives a speech of welcome to assembled U.S. officers and sailors, from a raised dais on aft deck. The view is framed between two aft 14 inch guns. The ship's Captain, thanks Admiral Beatty and makes some remarks and leads the ship's company in a series of hat-waving cheers. A woman is seen leaving the ship, assisted by the Warrant Officer,Bosun's Mate, carrying a megaphone, as a Marine stands by, and Admiral Beatty waves farewell from the ships deck. Senior officers, including a British General, stand about on deck.
