Opening slates indicate how seriously Britain views the German U-Boat campaign against Allied shipping in World War 1. Captain Wilhelm Werner of German U-Boat, UB7, is seen on deck with his officers consulting navigation charts. Their navigator sights the sun with a sextant to determine their latitude. Slate tells of their sinking of the British Steamer, "Patagonia." View of the Patagonia, stopped, in the Atlantic, and then listing and sinking. (This occurred on September 15, 1915, in the Atlantic ocean, off the coast of France.) Change of scene shows a crewmember of the UB-7 next to the conning tower, putting on his boots as a wave washes over his feet. Another slate about the seriousness of the U-Boat operations. Use of BLU-82-B bomb in Project Commando Vault, to create instant landing zone during Vietnam War
U.S. Project Combat Trap/Commando Vault using outsized bombs to create helicopter landing zones in the jungle, during the war in Vietnam. (At first, the project used 10,000 pound World War II M121 bombs. In 1970, it switched to the 15,000 pound BLU-82/B bomb, also called a "Daisy Cutter".) A parachute trails behind the aircraft, attached to a large pallet on which a BLU-82/B (Bomb Live Unit-82) is fastened. The load is released and the parachute pulls the pallet and bomb out of the plane. Scene reverts to the view of the C-130 from another aircraft. The parachute and bomb are seen falling from the C-130. Camera follows them as they fall through the cloud layer. Next, a huge ball of fire is seen in the jungle below. Dense gray smoke billows upward. Scene shifts to view from a helicopter flying closer to the ground, which is obscured by dense tree canopy below. View of the explosion site shows depression in the jungle canopy, but the helicopter doesn't get close enough to reveal more.

United States Secretary of Navy inspects 7th Fleet in the Pacific Ocean. The Secretary of Navy Charles Thomas along with U.S. Navy Admiral Royal E. Ingersoll and Admiral Alfred M. Pride on the deck of the Cruiser USS St. Paul (CA-73). Marine guard salutes them. A sailor helps Secretary Thomas to put on a Mae West. The Secretary shakes hands with the two Admirals. There are several sequences of Thomas boarding U.S. Navy HUP-2 helicopters. Helicopter Number 15 is seen on the USS Bennington (CVA-20) preparing to to take him to the St. Paul. Later, he is seen boarding the St. Paul's helicopter number 9 which is to take him back to the Bennington.
