[Note: The following eyewitness account of the kamikaze attack was recorded by Seamen 1st Class, Enrico Trotta, who was a crew member on the USS Louisville (CA-28) from 1943 to 1946, "At 1923 (hours) two planes which were identified as friendly flew around and one kamikaze dove onto the battleship USS Mississippi BB 41. The other kamikaze plane turned to the Louisville and started to make a run on us. I was on No. #4 - 20 mm AA gun mount on the port side below #2 main battery and I fired 58 rounds to set the kamikaze plane on fire prior to hitting the Louisville’s front smoke stack bending and twisting it and killing 9 men on the 40 mm gun mount mounting on the forward superstructure tripod about 140 feet from our gun mount. The kamikaze also cut our sea plane off and left only the pontoon on the catapult. Three other 20 AA mm gun crews opened up firing 4, 11, and 20 rounds as well. We were not told to fire for we did it on our own. We were only manning the guns at the time and were not on general quarters. Later, the officers came by and said good job."]
Search and rescue mission for PBM Mariner George I, in Antarctica during Operation High Jump
Relates to the U.S. Antarctic expedition,Operation High Jump in 1946. Reconnaissance aircraft take off for a search and rescue mission in Antarctica. Crew members of a PMB-5 Mariner aircraft fly above the Antarctica in search of a crashed airplane crew - the crew of the Mariner George 1. The missing crew is located on Thurston Island after 13 days by Commander Howell, supplies are dropped for the survivors and they are rescued finally. Aerial scenes of the crew discovered and the names of the dead painted by the survivors on the plane wing. Three did not survive: Max Lopez, Bud Hendersin, Fred Williams. Captain George Dufek welcomes the survivors. Survivors Captain Caldwell, Moore, Robbins, Kearns, McCarthy, eating their food (not including seriously injured "Frenchie" LeBlanc). Coastguard icebreaker arrives. Supplies and equipment are loaded back on the ships. Admiral Richard E. Byrd is seen. Animated map shows the statistics of Operation High Jump.

Mixture of scenes recorded during visit of Israel's President Chaim Weizmann to the White House in 1848. A 1946 Buick Special 4 door sedan Model 41 car pulls up to back of the White House and parks A Cadillac Series 75 limousine follows, carrying Israel's first President, Chaim Weizmann, who is assisted as he steps out. Scene shifts to portico of the White House, where President Weizmann presents a torah to President Truman, who holds it up and makes some remarks. Closeup of the two Presidents. Scene shifts to back of White House as President Weizmann's car pulls up to the door, this time with a Secret Service agent riding on the running board. (He steps down as car stops.) Next, a battery of photographers is seen taking pictures. Scene shifts again, to President Weizmann walking slowly from his car, with assistance. Another shot of photographers taking pictures. Next, Weizmann is seen on the White House Portico with President Harry Truman who escorts him into the White House, followed by various staff members. President Truman and President Weizmann standing on Portico of White House. A group of staff stand nearby as President Weizmann's car is driven from the White House parking lot, past a U.S.Presidential 1947 Cadillac limousine. Some repeated views: of Presidents Truman and Weizmann, as they face reporters; and of Truman, Weizmann, and the gift torah.

Excellent views of a U.S. Navy HO3S-1A helicopter. (This is the U.S. Navy version of the Sikorsky S-51, also known as an H-5). This particular helicopter is one of the first four Sikorsky S-51 helicopters ordered by the U.S. Navy in 1946 for use in Operation High Jump operations in Antarctica. The helicopter on the ship deck in the Pacific Ocean . U.S. Navy Lieutenant Tracy gets onto the helicopter. The helicopter takes off from the ship deck. The navy helicopter comes back in for a landing. Lieutenant Tracy gets off the helicopter and crew members secure it on the flight deck.
