United States Army engineers construct Camp Century in Greenland. A man gets a hair cut at the only barber's shop at the camp site. Snow milling machines cut nuclear trenches. 82nd Airborne troopers prepare England for invasion of Normandy during World War II.

Preparations in England for the Allied invasion of France during World War II. U.S. Army 82nd Airborne soldiers with equipment as they prepare to board an aircraft. Men load into buses as a motorcycle escort leads a convoy of buses through a farmland. Men get down from the buses and walk into hangar being used as barracks. Men play handball and volleyball. They read and write letters to loved ones at home. Men sharpen, check and work on knives and rifles. They clean and oil the rifles and attach bayonets. Soldiers paint invasion stripe marks on C-47 aircraft readying it for the D-Day invasion of France.

Exercise Jupiter, Wiesbaden West Germany, September, 1951. (This was a three-day, French-directed war game involving Allied forces in Europe. Among those on hand to observe the exercise was the SHAPE commander, Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower.) In opening scene, an Italian pilot in flight suit, leans into the cockpit of a De Havilland DH-100 Vampire jet plane displaying number 72 on it's nose, at Wiesbaden Air Force Base. A ground crewman connects an auxiliary power unit to the aircraft, as the pilot adjusts his helmet. Closeup of the Italian pilot reaching into the cockpit. A U.S. C-47 transport plane taxis in the background. Two other Italian pilots, in flight gear, appear nearby plus a U.S. Air Force flight line tug. The other pilots stroll around the Vampire jet. Next, the tug is seen moving away as other Italian pilots gather around Vampire jets on the flight line. The tug, carrying several Italian officers, backs up to jet number 72, and hooks up and tows away the auxiliary power unit.

General Lauris Norstad visits ground crews of F-84 thunder jet aircraft at Wiesbaden Air Force Base, during Exercise Cirrus.

As film starts, three U.S. Air Force ground crewmen are seen standing at attention in front of their Republic F-84 Thunderjet aircraft at Wiesbaden Air Force Base, Germany during Exercise Cirrus. The aircraft are parked on pierced steel planking (Marsden matting). They are approached by Lieutenant General Lauris Norstad, Commander in chief, USAFE (U.S. Air forces Europe) with additional duty as commanding general of the Allied Air Forces in Central Europe under the Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Powers in Europe. The General, accompanied by a Colonel, stops to speak briefly with the three airmen as an Air Force photographer circles them taking pictures. Norstad continues to another F-84 and ground crew, where he also speaks with them, spending more time with one who is a Master Sergeant. Then he and the Colonel turn and exchange salutes with some Italian Air Force officers as they walk past them. Next three 1950 Buick sedans are seen pulling away from the edge of a taxiway, where they were parked. The drive past the camera on the taxiway. In the final scene, General Norstad is seen conversing with members of his staff, standing next to luggage lined up beside them under a C-54 transport plane.
